Eighty years after the Spanish Civil War began, we continue to learn about the crucial role that the volunteers of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade played in the Spanish Civil War. Approximately 2800 men and women crossed the Atlantic to defend the Spanish Republic. Their stories, alongside other narratives by foreign volunteers, writers, and participants in the Spanish conflict, constitute an essential component in the complex rhetoric of the Civil War. This project focuses on how today’s generation interprets the accounts of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade volunteers.
